On the edge of the Solbosch campus, overlooking avenue Roosevelt, the Presidency and Rectorate of the University of Brussels are housed in a building designed by architect Adrien Blomme around 1928. Blomme wanted to live there and set up his office. For reasons of profitability, five apartments for rent were also included in the project.
Blomme complied with urban planning regulations requiring different building sizes, which is why the building has two additional floors on the side facing Rue Antoine Depage. The architect paid particular attention to the interior design, focusing on comfort, light and space so that everyone would enjoy working or living in the whitewashed building.
The entrance is flanked by bas-reliefs by Ossip Zadkine depicting the architect's attributes. The main door has retained its wrought iron grille, while the ceremonial hall still features its original decoration with integrated wall lights and black and pink marble flooring (Prémeau and Imperor's red).
