Since its origins, Brussels has been divided between the upper town, home to places of power reserved for elites, and the lower town, the more popular area of commerce. This route explores the viewpoints created between the “upper city” and the “lower city”. This urban policy of creating views was far from accidental and reflects a particular conception of the city developed under Leopold II, in line with his vision for embellishing the capital.
